My parents owned a printing business. For as long as I can remember, I've been surrounded by paper, ink, and books.
In the summer and on weekends they would drop us off at the library and pick us up at the end of the day. I will always be grateful to those sweet, long-suffering librarians.

When I was in third and fourth grade I won a district-wide book writing competition two years in a row. It was so exciting to get my little trophy, but what I loved even more was the process.

First, I wrote the words. Next, I drew some pictures. Finally, with my mom’s help, I bound all the pages between two pieces of fabric-covered cardboard. Like magic, I had my very own book!

I always knew I wanted to write books someday but it took me a looooooooong time to get there. I earned degrees in education, communication, professional writing and editing, and completed a screenwriting program.

My favorite types of stories are of ordinary people (often forgotten to history) who have done extraordinary things. I LOVE research. I've had reader cards for the Library of Congress, the American Antiquarian Society, and the Huntington Library.
