What I love most about working with found media is that it is impossible to replicate. For my handmade collages I use vintage papers, letters, greeting cards, wrapping paper, envelopes, ticket stubs, receipts, crepe paper, menus, maps, blue prints, clothing patterns, ribbon, lace, pamphlets, books, food packaging, and other ephemera (the pastina is even vintage!) so that each individual work contains echoes of the past. When I begin a new project it’s like a treasure hunt as carefully chosen scraps and snips find their way into the piece.
I’m happy to share images of my work with other humans! If you are interested, please use the contact form below.
INFLUENCES
I was blessed to grow up surrounded by “creating” women. There was always a project in progress. My mom wrote books about pasta art and bread dough art. My Auntie Barbara's collage art from the 1960s and 70s still inspires me. Other classic artists who have influenced me are Mary Blair, Garth Williams, and Pauline Baynes (who illustrated the original Narnia books).

MISCELLANEA
We used to own a house on a corner with lots of windows. Every Halloween I would choose a different theme and hand cut silhouettes to tape scenes into the windows. Each night a line of cars would drive slowly past our house to check out the windows.
